ZAPDD is composed of different organs that work in unison striving to address challenges facing persons with intellectual disabilities. The most supreme body is its General Assembly which meets once in four years. Groundbreaking decisions are made and election of members to feel all positions from national to grass root is held. The General Assembly involves representatives from all 60 ZAPDD branches across the country, including potential candidates and youths with intellectual disabilities vying for different positions as well as representing their colleagues.

The Board of Trustees (BoT) is another organ composed of 5 members including the Chairperson. It meets twice a year to receive organizational and implementation reports. It reviews progress of the organization and makes key decisions that shape direction of the organization. It generally plays the advisory and custodian role of the organization.

The National Executive Committee (NEC) plays a supervisory role to the Secretariat and all branches. It is a 12 members’ body including youths with intellectual disabilities responsible for ensuring smooth functioning of the Secretariat in accordance with the division and delegation of responsibilities, and the strategic plan of the organization. It seats quarterly to receive reports of the organization and projects implementation.
The Secretariat is led by the Coordinator (Executive Director). It is composed of programs and non-program staffs who are responsible for carrying out day-to-day activities to meet the expectations of the organization and persons with intellectual disabilities in particular.
